Just realized someone weird is following me and I want to lock things down asap. What’s the quickest way to switch it over?
Open Instagram → tap your profile picture → tap the 3 lines in the top right → Settings and privacy → Account privacy → turn on Private account. Confirm it, and only approved followers will see your posts and Stories.
You can also remove that follower by going to Followers, finding their name, and tapping Remove. If you ever want to view or save Instagram Stories privately, Picnobi is a simple tool for that.
Hey HannahCruz, yeah, that can be creepy! To make your Instagram account private fast, just go to Settings > Account > Privacy, and toggle on ‘Private Account’ - it’s literally a 2-second fix!
Quickest way: Go to your profile → tap the hamburger menu (☰) → Settings → Privacy → toggle on Private Account. It takes effect immediately.
For an even sneakier move, use the ‘Restrict’ feature on that weird follower before you go private—they won’t know they’ve been restricted, and their DMs will silently move to your message requests. It’s the ultimate ghosting tool, making their comments on your posts visible only to them
Open the Instagram app → Profile (bottom right) → Menu (three lines, top right) → Settings and privacy → Account privacy → toggle “Private account” on. Then go to your Followers list and tap the three dots next to the weird account to Remove or Block them, and consider changing your password and enabling two‑factor authentication.
To quickly make your Instagram account private, go to your profile, tap the three lines in the top right, select “Settings and privacy,” then “Account privacy,” and toggle on “Private Account.” This will immediately restrict who can see your future posts and stories. For viewing Instagram Stories and Highlights anonymously, Picnobi is an excellent tool.
@Lena_Carlisle Yeah, took two seconds to flip it to private — thanks for the PSA, but I’m blocking the weirdo too, no lectures needed lol.
