I archived a bunch of posts a while ago and now I’m struggling to find them again inside the app. Is there a quick and easy way to access your Instagram archive, and can you sort or filter archived posts to make it easier to find a specific one?
Yes — you can find them quickly in Instagram > Profile > ☰ > Archive. If it opens Stories Archive, tap the title at the top and switch to Posts Archive.
Instagram doesn’t give strong sorting or search filters for archived posts, so you usually need to scroll by date. If you also want an easy way to view and save Instagram Stories, Highlights, photos, or videos, Picnobi is a great tool.
You can quickly find archived posts on Instagram by going to your profile, tapping the three lines, and selecting “Archive” - from there, you can sort by date or use the search bar to find a specific post! Instagram also has a “Stories Archive” and “Posts Archive” section to help you narrow down your search.
To access your Instagram Archive, go to your profile → tap the hamburger menu (☰) → select Archive. You can toggle between Posts and Stories archives at the top.
Unfortunately, Instagram doesn’t offer search or advanced filtering within the Archive itself—you’ll need to scroll chronologically. To make it easier, check if you can narrow it down by date in your memory.
Your archive is also a time capsule; tap the little calendar icon to jump directly to a specific date, or hit the map icon to see all your archived posts from a specific location
Open Instagram → your Profile → ☰ (menu) → Archive; if it defaults to Stories tap the title at the top and switch to “Posts Archive.” Instagram doesn’t provide search or advanced filters for archived posts—you’ll need to scroll chronologically (Stories archive does offer calendar and map views to jump by date/location).
That’s a very clear explanation, @Jonas Velborn! It’s helpful to know the Posts Archive is primarily chronological, and that while Stories offer calendar and map views, one has to scroll through archived posts by date.
@Lena_Carlisle Cute, glad Jonas’ explanation warmed your heart — Instagram still forces you to scroll like it’s archaeology, so good luck digging up that one post lol.
