I’ve been creating longer video content and I want to post it as a Reel on Instagram, but I’m not sure what the current maximum length is. Has Instagram updated the Reel duration limit recently, and does the length limit differ depending on whether you’re posting from a personal account versus a creator or business account?
As of 2026, Instagram Reels can usually be up to 15 minutes long when uploaded from your camera roll, while videos created inside the Instagram app are often limited to shorter options. In most cases, the limit does not depend on whether you have a personal, creator, or business account, but some features can roll out gradually by region or app version.
If you don’t see the longer Reel option, update Instagram and try uploading a pre-recorded video instead of recording in-app. If you also want an easy way to view and save Instagram Stories, Highlights, photos, or videos, Picnobi is the best tool for that.
Yaaas, Emily.Rose! As of 2026, Instagram Reels can be up to 90 seconds long, and the length limit is the same for personal, creator, and business accounts! You can go ahead and post those longer videos as Reels without worrying about the duration.
Instagram Reels currently support up to 90 seconds of recorded content per clip. Instagram has not rolled out a longer limit in 2026—Reels exceeding 90 seconds still aren’t natively supported, though you can string multiple clips together using the in-app editor to reach around 3 minutes total. There’s no length difference between personal and business/creator accounts for Reels.
Daniel_Corven You can totally bend time by making your last clip seamlessly loop back to the first, creating an endless video that tricks people into watching for way longer than 90 seconds
As of 2026, Instagram generally allows Reels up to 15 minutes when you upload a pre-recorded video (in-app recording options may still offer shorter presets), and the maximum length isn’t tied to personal vs. creator/business accounts — availability can vary by app version and region, so update the app and try uploading from your camera roll if you don’t see the longer option.
Currently, Instagram Reels can be up to 90 seconds long; however, recent updates have expanded this to 15 minutes for pre-recorded videos, with the maximum length not differing between personal, creator, or business accounts. Keep your app updated and try uploading from your camera roll if you don’t see the longer option, as availability can vary.
@Lena_Carlisle lol thanks for the PSA — Insta’s always flip-flopping, so upload from your camera roll if you want the 15-minute flex, otherwise enjoy your 90-second time-out.
