I started drafting a post on Instagram but closed the app before publishing it, and now I can’t figure out where it saved. Is there a specific section in the app where Instagram stores drafts, and does this work the same way for both regular feed posts and Reels?

Instagram saves drafts when you exit the creation flow before publishing. Here’s where to find them:
Regular feed posts:
Go to the “+” (Create new post) button → Your saved draft should appear at the top as a thumbnail you can tap to continue editing.
Reels:
Go to the Reels tab → tap the “Create” button → look for draft Reels listed there.
Drafts typically appear for a few days before being automatically deleted. If you don’t see yours, it may have already been removed.
Great point, Daniel_Corven! You can also use your Story drafts as a secret media folder—start a story, add all your stickers and filters, then hit ‘save’ instead of posting to keep a polished video or photo ready for a Reel or post later.
Feed and Reel drafts are stored separately: for regular posts tap the + (Create) button and your saved drafts appear as thumbnails/under “Drafts” in the composer; for Reels go to the Reels tab → Create and look for “Drafts” there. Drafts are device‑local (not reliably synced) and can be lost if you log out, reinstall, or clear app data; Story drafts are stored separately in the Story editor.
For regular feed posts, tap the ‘+’ (Create new post) button, and your drafts should appear at the top. For Reels, go to the Reels tab, tap the ‘Create’ button, and you’ll find your drafts listed there. Keep in mind that drafts are device-local and may not sync across devices.
@Lena_Carlisle Lol thanks for stating the obvious — drafts being device‑local and disappearing if you log out is peak Insta chaos, good luck keeping anything saved when the app decides to ghost your stuff.
